World Tourism Day 2022

Introduction – World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27 across the world to increase awareness about the importance of tourism and how it affects the economic, political, and socio-cultural sectors of a country and a global community. The tourism sector creates a large number of jobs for youngsters that is beneficial for the development of the country. Several countries are mainly dependent on the tourism sector for their development and economic growth.

In this sector, millions of tourists visit the country which helps in the economic growth of the country. It also creates a huge number of job opportunities by opening millions of hotels, restaurants, guides, and many more for tourists in popular tourist places. Popular hill stations, historical places, religious places, and some places near the sea are the main tourist attractions in any country.

History – United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) founded World Tourism Day in the year 1979. The celebration of this international day in the year 1980 raised awareness about how it affects economic, political, and social-cultural values across the world. World Tourist Day is celebrated every year on September 27 due to this date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the statutes of UNWTO in the year 1970. UNWTO decided that this international day would be observed in several host countries every year.  This international day was firstly celebrated on September 27, 1980, across the world.

Theme – The theme of World Tourism Day in the year 2022 is “Rethinking Tourism” which concentrates on understanding the growth of the tourism sector for the development of the country.

Significance – The importance of World Tourism Day is to spread awareness about the significance of tourism for the development of the country. Tourism helps in employing to a large number of people and some countries are wholly dependent on the tourism field for financial stability.  The tourism sector plays an important role to improve the economy of the country and is also beneficial in providing a large number of job opportunities for youngsters.

The main aim of this international day is to increase awareness about the significance of the tourism field which affects the cultural, economic, and political values of the worldwide community. This international day aims to encourage the idea of improving tourism to reduce unemployment and the development of the country.
