The celebration of this international day in the year 1980 raised awareness about how it affects economic, political, and social-cultural values across the world. World Tourist Day is celebrated every year on September 27 due to this date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the statutes of UNWTO in the year 1970. UNWTO decided that this international day would be observed in several host countries every year. This international day was firstly celebrated on September 27, 1980, across the world.
