Introduction – World Rhino Day is celebrated every year on September 22 across the world to spread awareness about the different species of Rhinoceros and the dangers they face. This international day provides an opportunity to celebrate all different five types of species of rhinoceros namely Javan, Sumatran, Greater One-horned, White, and Black rhino species.

This global day also provides a chance for zoos, NGOs, and people to honor rhinos in their own special ways. The main aim of this international is to raise awareness about the African and Asian species of rhinoceros and motivate people to take steps for their conservation across the world.
History – World Wildlife Fund (WWF) announced that to celebrate World Rhino Day annually on September 22 in the year 2010 worldwide. Lisa Jane Campbell, creator of Annamtici and also the owner of the Chishakwe Ranch in Zimbabwe worked together with the creative director of the event, Rhishja Cota in the year 2011 to spread awareness about the conservation or protect all different five species of rhinoceros from extinction across the world. Thus, firstly World Rhino Day is observed in the year 2011.
Theme – The theme of World Rhino Day in the year 2022 is “Five Rhino Species Forever” which tells us to encourage the preservation of all five different species of rhinos such as Javan, Sumatran, Greater One-horned, White, and Black rhino species across the world.
Significance – This global is observed every year on September 22 to conserve all five different species of rhinoceros worldwide. The population of all five different special of rhinoceros across the world is due to industrialization, deforestation, poaching, and climate change. There are five different species of Rhinos that are found mainly in Africa and Asia. But different species of rhinoceros are one of the most threatened animals because of habitat loss, poaching, and deforestation. This global day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about these critically endangered species of rhinoceros. The main goal of this global day is to work on increasing the population of endangered species of rhinoceros worldwide.
