World Suicide Prevention Day 2022

Introduction – World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year on September 10 to spread awareness about several ways to prevent suicides across the world. The main goal of this international day is to share several ways to prevent depression or tension that avoids or lowers the cases of suicide all around the world. As per the World Health Organization, there are around 7 lakh people suicide every year all over the world. This international aims to concentrate on the important ways and measures to prevent suicide and spread awareness about mental health.

History – The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) created World Suicide Prevention Day in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO). Firstly, World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on September 10, 2003, to spread awareness about the important ways in which suicide can be prevented across the world.

Theme – The theme of World Suicide Prevention Day in the year 2022 is “Creating hope through action” which is applicable between 2021 and 2023.

Significance – Depression or stress is the main cause of suicides across the world. Unemployment, marriage or relationship problems, financial crisis, failure in board exams or competitive exams, and many more are the main causes of severe depression that results in suicide. To prevent suicide, close friends and family members including parents must talk with that individual who is suffering from severe depression. If you talk with the depressed person then he is in a relaxed mood which helps in the prevention of suicide. If you are suffering from depression then you should spend time and discuss your problem with your best friends and close family members that is beneficial in reducing depression and relaxing feel. The main goal of this international day is to avoid committing suicide and fight against challenges or problems with full strength.
