International Literacy Day 2022

Introduction – International Literacy Day is celebrated annually on September 8 across the world to spread awareness about the significance of literacy and education. The main aim of this international day is to draw attention to the importance of literacy or education to communities, societies, and individuals all around the world. This international day also highlights the need for efforts to literate every people all over the world.

Literacy helps people to live with dignity and self-dependence by getting a good job in a top company. If you are literate or graduate in any branch then you will get a good job in the best company with a suitable salary and live self-dependence.  Literacy also helps those people who have a local business or shop in a city or village and helps in earning a lot of money. When the literacy rate of any country is improving continuously then it also helps in the development of the country.

History – UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) announced that International Literacy Day is celebrated on September 8 October 26, 1966, to encourage the importance of literacy among common people. At that time, the world was dealing with several problems such as illiteracy, unemployment, and poverty. Firstly, this international day is observed in the year 1967. Theme – The theme of International Literacy Day in the year 2022 is “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces” which concentrates on taking some steps to ensure that every person receives a high-quality education that is very important for the betterment of society.

Significance – Education is the fundamental right of every person across the world. If individuals are literate then they will get a job and live with self-respect and independently that is beneficial for the development of the country.  This international day is celebrated to aware common people about the significance of education or literacy and knows their social rights for human and social development.

The main benefit of literacy is that helps individuals to live with dignity and a better life and it is also beneficial for controlling poverty, population, better literacy rate, lowering child mortality, and many more. This international day aims to encourage people toward good quality education for a better life. UNESCO organizes several events in colleges, and schools to aware people to get a better education and life. The main goal of this international day is to raise awareness about the importance of developing technical skills and expansion of knowledge to maintain up with the pace of the fast-changing world.
