Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first thus Afghanistan first batted and made a low score of 129/6 in 20 overs due to good bowling by Haris Rauf 2/26 (4), Naseem Shah 1/19 (4), Mohammad Nawaz 1/23 (4), Shadab Khan 1/27 (4), and Mohammad Hasnain 1/34 (4). Ibrahim Zardan 35 (37), Hazratullah Zazai 21 (17), and Rashid Khan 18* (15) were good batting from the Afghanistan side. After this inning, Afghanistan set a target of 130 runs in 20 overs for Pakistan to win this match.

During chasing, Pakistan loses 9 wickets, reached the target of 130 runs in 19.2 overs, and won the thriller match by only 1 wicket due to great batting by Shadab Khan 36 (26), Iftikhar Ahmed 30 (33), Mohammad Rizwan 20 (26), Asif Ali 16 (8), and Naseem Shah 14* (4). Fazalhaq Farooq 3/31 (3.2), Fareed Ahmed 3/31 (4), and Rashid Khan 2/25 (4) were good bowling from the Afghanistan side.

Shadab Khan (PAK), 1/27 (4) & 36 (26), was declared as the Player of the Match due to good performance in bowling and batting.
