Earlier India won the toss and chose to bat first and made a good score in the first inning is 345/10 due to great batting by Shreyas Iyer 105 (171), Shubman Gill 52 (93), Ravindra Jadeja 50 (112), Ravichandran Ashwin 38 (56), and Ajinkya Rahane 35 (63). Tim Southee 5/69 (27.4), Kyle Jamerson 3/91 (23.2), and Ajaz Patel 2/90 (29.1) were good bowling from New Zealand side.
