International Day of the Girl Child 2021

Introduction – The International Day of the Girl Child is observed on October 11 every year that marks the importance, empowering, and amplifying the voice of young girls all over the world. This day provides opportunities to discuss the problems that are faced by the young girl. The girls faced several problems such as discrimination, low learning opportunities, rape, violence, and many more all around the world.

History – The first conference was held in the year 1995 at the World Conference on the problems of women in Beijing discuss that discuss about the basic rights of girl children. The United Nations General Assembly passes a resolution on December 19, 2011, and announced that International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated on October 11 annually. Firstly, this day was celebrated on October 11, 2012. This international day concentrates on the requirement to recognize the challenges that are faced by girl children worldwide.

Theme – The theme of International Day of the Girl Child is ‘’Digital generation. Our generation’’. This theme tells that to provide equal opportunities to girls to work in the digital generation. This day aims to empower the girl child for better education and protection.

Significance – The International Day of Girl Child is celebrated annually on October 11 to spread awareness about the problems that are faced by the young girl. On this day, we arrange seminars, campaigns, and discussions about the importance of a girl’s education, safety, and health. There are several problems including violence, discrimination, and rape that are faced by the young girl. On this day, we should talk about how to solve these problems that are faced by women or girsl globally. The main purpose of this day is to provide an opportunity for girls and encourage awareness about gender equality.
