Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Tokyo Paralympics is delayed by a year so that the Paralympics Games were held in the year 2021.
In the Tokyo Paralympics, India placed at 24th position and won 19 medals including 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals with the best-ever performance at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

There is a list of those Indian players who won the medals at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 are given below –
- Avni Lekhara – Avni Lekhara became the first Indian woman who won two medals in the shooting. First, Avni won a historic gold medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event in the Paralympic games. Secondly, she won a bronze medal in the women’s 50m Rifle (SH1) category in the Tokyo Paralympics Games.
- Sumit Antil – Sumit Antil won the second gold medal for India in the men’s javelin throw F 64 category with a new world record of 68.55m at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
- Manish Narwal – Manish Narwal wins a gold medal in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event with a Paralympic record of 218.2 shots in the Paralympics Games in Tokyo.
- Pramod Bhagat – Pramod Bhahat a gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category by 21-14, 21-17 in the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. He won a first-ever gold medal for India in Badminton at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
- Krishna Nagar – Krishna Nagar won a gold medal in the men’s singles SH6 event in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He defeated Chu Man Kai from Hong Kong by 21-17, 16-21, 21-17 in the final match and won a gold medal for India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. This is a second gold medal in para-badminton for India.
- Bhavinaben Patel – Bhavinaben Patel creates history and won the silver medal for India in table tennis at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. She became the second Indian woman to win a silver medal in the Paralympics Games.
- Devendra Jhajharia – Indian javelin thrower, Devendra Jhaijharia won the silver in the men’s javelin throw – F-46 final event with his best throw of 64.35m at the Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020.
- Nishad Kumar – Nishad Kumar won the silver medal for India in the men’s high jump (T-47) with a jumped of 2.06m at the Tokyo Paralympics Games.
- Yogesh Kathuniya – Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 event in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He won a silver medal and sent the disc with the best distance of 44.38m in the sixth and last attempt to win the silver medal at the Paralympic games.
- Mariyappan Thangavelu – Mariyappan Thangavelu won the silver medal in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He won a silver medal in the men’s high jump T-42 event in the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. In this event, Mariyappan cleared 1.86m and won a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020.
- Praveen Kumar – Praveen Kumar won the silver medal in the men’s high jump T64 with an effort of 2.07m and gained a second position with a new Asian Record.
- Singhraj Adhana – Singhraj Adhana won two medals for India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Firstly, Singhraj Adhana won a silver medal in the Mixed P4 50m pistol SH1 at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Secondly, he won a bronze medal in the P1 men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event with a point of 216.8 and gains the third position in the shooting event at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
- Suhas Yathiraj – Suhas Yathiraj won a silver medal in the men’s singles SL4 event for India at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. He is a District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Suhas also became the first-ever IAS officer of India to win a medal in the Paralympics Games.
- Sundar Singh Gurjar – Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze medal with a best throw of 64.01m in the men’s javelin throw (F 46) event at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
- Sharad Kumar – Sharad Kumar won the bronze medal in the men’s high jump T 42 category with an effort of 1.83m in the Paralympic Games held in Tokyo.
- Manoj Sarkar – Manoj Sarkar won a bronze medal in the men’s singles SL3 Badminton event in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He defeated Daisuke Fujihara from Japan by 22-20, 21-13, and won a bronze medal for India.
- Harvinder Singh – Harvinder Singh won the first-ever medal in archery for India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He won a bronze medal in the men’s singles recurve archery in the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. Harvinder became the first Indian archer who won the first medal in archery at the Paralympic Games that is a great achievement.
