Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026

It’s a very proud moment for our country that Indian weightlifter, Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan. After winning the silver medal, India won 11 medals including 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals in the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan. Mirabai Chanu won the first ever medal in the Asian Games.

Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal with the total lift of 198kg and won the historic silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan. Mirabai Chanu lifted 87kg in snatch and 111kg in clean and jerk,  a total lift of 198kg, was placed in the second position and won the silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan. Ri Song Gum of North Korea won the gold medal with the total lift of 215kg and Luluk Diana Tri Wijayana of Indonesia won the bronze medal with the total lift of 191kg in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan.

Earlier, Mirabai Chanu won the historic silver medal with a total lift of 202kg in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She also won the gold medal with a total lift of 190kg in the women’s 48kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026.
