After winning the gold medal, Sharmila Dhankar became the first Indian para athlete to win the gold medal in the para athletics at the Commonwealth Games.

Sharmila Dhankar won the historic gold medal with a season best throw of 9.81m in the women’s shot put F57 event and become the first ever Indian para athlete to win the gold medal in the para athletics in the Commonwealth Games. After winning the gold medal, Sharmila Dhankar won the second gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the year 2026.
