After winning the gold medal, Sharmila Dhankar became the first Indian para athlete to win the gold medal in the para athletics at the Commonwealth Games.

Sharmila Dhankar won the historic gold medal with a season best throw of 9.81m in the women’s shot put F57 event in the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 and became the first ever Indian para athlete to win the gold medal in the para athletics in the Commonwealth Games. After winning the gold medal, Sharmila Dhankar won the second gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the year 2026.
Zinabu Issah of Ghana won the silver medal with the best effort or throw of 8.65m while Shilpa Shyla of India won the bronze medal with the best throw of 7.26m in the women’s para shot put F57 event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the year 2026.
