National DNA Day is celebrated every year on April 25 across the world to honor or celebrate the invention or discovery of double helix structure of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) by Franklin, Watson, Wilkins, and Crick in the year 1953 and the end or completion of Human Genome Project. This global day promotes education, impacts, and genomic research or study of genetics on society across the world. This International Day was first celebrated in the year 2003 and is dedicated to enhance awareness about genomic research among people and encouraging youngersters to make or explore career in genetics.

The full form of DNA is Deoxyribonucleic Acid, is the molecule, which carries genetic instructions for the growth, reproduction, functioning, and development of all known organisms. The shape of DNA is like a double helix, which is composed of two strands of nucleotides with base pairs adenine-thymine, cytosine-guanine, which acts as the rungs. The main feature of DNA is passed from parents to their children, which makes it the essential unit of hereditary and is stored in the cell nucleus and sometimes mitochondria where as in prokaryotes, it is situated in the cytoplasm.
The main function of DNA is to carries or transfers instructions, which your cells may read and converted into proteins and these proteins help your human body to do everything it needs to work between how your organ work and how you look. The main feature of DNA is it uses its own language to write instructions, which is written in only four letters, such as A (Adenine), C (Cytosine), G (Guanine), and T (Thymine).
The main purpose of this global day is to share important information about DNA on several social media websites including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and many more among common people across the world.
