Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bowl first, India first batted and make a huge score of 587 runs due to great batting by Shubman Gill 269 (387), Ravindra Jadeja 89 (137), Yashasvi  Jaiswal 87 (107), Washington Sundar 42 (103), and Karun Nair 31 (50). Shoaib Bashir 3/167 (45), Chris Woakes 2/81 (25), and Josh Tongue 2/119 (28) were good bowling from the England side.

In the first inning, England was all out in 407 runs due to great bowling by Mohammed Siraj 6/70 (19.3), and Akash Deep 4/88 (20). Jamie Smith 184* (207), and Harry Brook 158 (234) were good batting from the England side. After this inning, India lead the runs by 180 runs against England in the first inning.

India batted and again made a huge score of 427 runs in 6 wickets dye to great batting by Shubman Gill 161 (162), Ravindra Jadeja 69* (118), Rishabh Pant 65 (58), and KL Rahul 55 (84). Josh Tongue 2/93 (15), and Shoaib Bashir 2/119 (26) were good bowling from the England side. India set a huge target of 607 runs for England to win this test match after the second inning.

England was all out at only 271 runs in the second inning and  India won the match by 336 runs with England due to great bowling by Akash Deep 6/99 (21.1), Washington Sundar 1/28 (6), Prasidh Krishna 1/39 (14), and Ravindra Jadeja 40/1 (15). Jamie Smith 88 (99), and Brydon Carse 38 (48) were good batting from the England side.

Shubman Gill (IND), 269 & 161, was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.
