Importance of Sehri in Ramadan

Ramadan – Ramadan is also known as Ramzan is the ninth month of the Hijri calendar starting from Moharram, Safar, Rabiul Awwal, Rabius Sami, Jamadiul Awwal, Jamadus Sami, Rajab, Shaban, and Ramadan. The other three-month being Shawwal, Zidat, and Zilhijja.  Ramadan is observed as the month of fasting, praying, and doing good things for 29 or 30 days.

 Ramadan is a very important month for Muslims due to Quaran’s first revelation to Mohammad (A.S), the prophet. Ramadan is a month of spiritual reflection, worship, blessings, and increased devotions.  Holy Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan that is a source of true guidance for all mankind.

Importance of Sehri in Ramadan – The word ‘’Sehri’’ comes from Persian and is also known as Sahur or Suhoor in Arabic word. It is the meal taken by Muslims early in the morning before fasting is known as Sehri. This meal is taken before Fajr (Morning) prayer and is the last meal before fasting.  Sehri offers strength for worship of Allah and causes greater sincerity in the worship (ibadat) of Allah.

Sehri is very important because it avoids weakness caused by the fast. In the past, people were awakened by beating drums while roaring on the roads and streets. The man is known as ‘’Musahrati’’ must have good health and voice. Now, the modern method is setting off an alarm in mobile phones. Generally, people get up at 3:30 A.M in sehri.
