Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bowl first thus Sri Lanka first batted and made a very huge score of 206/6 in 20 overs due to great batting by Dasun Shanaka 56* (22), Kusal Mendis 52 (31), Charith Asalanka 37 (19), and Prabath Nissanka 33 (35). Umran Malik 3/48 (4), Axar Patel 2/24 (4), and Yuzvendra Chahal 1/30 (4) were good bowling from the Indian side. After this inning, Sri Lanka set a huge target of 207 runs in 20 overs for India to win this match.

During chasing, India scored 190/8, and lose this match by 16 runs with Sri Lanka due to good bowling by Dasun Shanaka 2/4 (1), Kasun Rajitha 2/22 (4), Dilshan Madhushanka 2/45 (4), Chamika Karunaratne 1/41 (4), and Wanindu Hasaranga 1/41 (3). Axar Patel 65 (31), Suryakumar Yadav 51 (36), and Shivam Mavi 26 (15) were good batting from the Indian side.

Dasun Shanaka (SL), 2/4 (1) & 56* (22), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting and bowling.
