In the first one-day match, Afghanistan won the first one-day match by 60 runs with Sri Lanka due to a great century by Ibrahim Zadran 106 (120), and the best bowling by Fazalhaq Farooqui 4/49 (9). After winning this match, Afghanistan leads the series by (1-0) in the three one-day matches against Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first and made a huge score of 294/8 in 50 overs due to great batting by Ibrahim Zadran 106 (120), Rahmanullah Gurbaz 53 (55), Rahmat Shah 52 (64), Najibullah Zadran 42 (25), and Gulbadin Naib 22 (24). Wanindu Hasaranga 2/42 (10), Dhananjaya Lakshan 1/43 (6), Lahiru Kumara 1/54 (8), Kasun Rajitha 1/56 (10), and Maheesh Theekshana 1/62 (10) were good bowling from the Sri Lanka side. After this inning, Afghanistan set a huge target of 295 runs in 50 overs for Sri Lanka to win this match.

During chasing, Sri Lanka was all out at 234/10 in only 38 overs, and lose this match by 60 runs with Afghanistan due to great bowling by Fazalhaq Farooqui 4/49 (4), Gulbadin Naib 3/34 (4), Yamin Ahmadzai 2/46 (6), and Rashid Khan 1/40 (8). Pathum Nissanka 85 (83), Wanindu Hasaranga 66 (46), and Dhnanjaya de Silva 16 (16) were good batting from the Sri Lanka side.

Ibrahim Zadran (AFG), 106 (120), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.
