Introduction – World Coconut Day is celebrated every year on September 2 across the world to spread awareness about the importance and benefits of coconuts. Coconut is also popularly known as ‘’Nariyal’’ and is one of the most popular fruits across the world. Coconuts are also used in making coconut oil and coconut milk with several health benefits. Coconut contains several antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-fungal elements that are beneficial for your health.

Coconut juice is a natural sweet that provides a boost of hydration in the summer season and several nutrients to the body. Coconut is the member of the drupe family that is mainly found in tropical countries and is also most popular in the Asian-Pacific region.
History – Firstly, the Asian Pacific Coconut Community celebrated the World Coconut Day on September 2, 2009, to raise awareness about the health benefits of coconuts across the world. APCC was established on Sep 2 thus this day is observed as World Coconut Day all around the world. The UN-ESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for the Asia Pacific) has approved APCC to celebrate this global day annually on September 2. World Coconut Day is celebrated in some Indian states such as Karnataka, West Bengal, Orissa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and many more.
Theme – The theme of World Coconut Day in the year 2022 is “Growing coconut for a better future and life”. This international day highlights the significance and spread awareness about the health benefits of coconuts across the world
Significance – The term “coconut” comes from the Portuguese word “coco” that means skull or head and can be made someplace in the Indo-Malayan area. The scientific meaning of coconut is called as Cocos nucifera that may reach a height of 82 feet. Indonesia, India, and the Philippines produce the most coconuts across the world. The coconut tree is also called as “trees of heaven” or “kalpavriksha” in Sanskrit. Several countries focus to make many products that are made up of coconuts, which have become a part of our daily lives. You can celebrate this international day by making varieties of dishes that are made up of coconuts and spreading awareness about the health benefits of coconuts.
