It’s a very proud moment for our country that Achinta Sheuli won the sixth medal or third gold medal in weightlifting for India in the commonwealth games 2022 in Birmingham. He won the gold medal in the men’s 73kg category with a total lift of 313 kg (143 +170) kg.

Firstly, Achinta lifted 143kg in snatch which is a Commonwealth Games record. In the first attempt, he lifted 166kg in clean and jerk. He fell in the second attempt and lifted 170kg in the third attempt in clean and jerk. He created a Commonwealth Games record with a total lift of 313kg in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

Earlier, Achinta won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent in the year 2021. He won the silver at the Junior World Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent in the year 2021.
