Introduction – International Day of Friendship is celebrated every year on July 30 across the world to honor the beautiful bond of friendship between people.  A friend is somebody that is always present in tough times so friendship is the most valuable thing in life that marks the importance of this beautiful relationship.

Friends are companions that support and guide you in challenging or needy times and also, we enjoy special moments with our friends throughout the year.  A friend is one who respects an individual’s skill and helps or inspires them to make the right choices and not get into any trouble or emergency.

History – The International Day of Friendship was started by Joyce Hall, founder of Hallmark Cards on August 2, 1930. He suggested the idea to observe a friendship day when people can celebrate or honor their friendships and relationships. Firstly, the International Day of Friendship was celebrated in Paraguay on July 30, 1958, by World Friendship Crusade.  In past, Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho came up with the word ‘friendship’ that started a foundation known as the World Friendship Crusade. After that, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the proposal on April 27, 2011, and announced that the International Day of Friendship was celebrated every year on July 30 across the world.

Significance – International Day of Friendship is a celebration of the wonderful bond of friendship between people. Friendship is one of the most beautiful relationships between people as compared with other relationships. On this day, people celebrated their love and friendship by sharing gifts such as cards and flowers. Several people celebrate friendship day by going on a trip and spending special time with their friends. Some youngsters celebrate the International Day of Friendship by exchanging greetings or flowers and tying friendship bands. This international day is the celebration of the beautiful bond and the relationship between close friends.
