Introduction – Constitution Day is also called National Law Day is observed every year in India on November 26 to honor the adoption of the constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly of India has adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949, which came into effect on January 26, 1950 in our country.

This national day honors the 72^nd anniversary of the historic event, which marked the dawn of a new era back in the year 1949. Constitution Day is also known as National Law Day, National Constitution Day, or Samvidhan Divas is observed to spread awareness about the Indian Constitution that was adopted on November 26, 1949.

History – According to a government website, the Union Ministry of Social Justice notified the decision of the Government of India on November 9, 2015 to celebrate Constitution Day annually on November 26 as a Samvidhan Day to encourage the constitution values among Indian people. The first law minister of India, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was also appointed as the chairman of the constitution drafting committee in the year 1947 in the Congress-led government. The responsibility of Dr. Ambedkar is to write the new constitution of India.

Parliament to celebrate Samvidhan Day – Today, the Indian Parliament will celebrate Constitution Day on November 26. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will lead the celebrations from the Central Hall. On this day, Indian President, Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla will address the event in the Parliament.

In the celebrations, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India will also take part in Vigyan Bhawan and Parliament. Prime Minister will also introduce the 2-day celebrations of Constitution Day that organized by the Supreme Court of India.
