Introduction – International Men’s Day is observed every year on November 19 to celebrate and recognize the socioeconomic, cultural, and political achievements of men. The main purpose of International Men’s Day is to honor the contributions and achievements of men. This day also honors the contributions of men to society, nation, community, childcare, family, and marriage.
History – Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh has introduced International Men’s Day in the year 1999 and taught history at the University of the West Indies in Tobago and Trinidad. Teelucksingh selected November 19 to honor the father’s birthday and promoted people to use this day for conveying issues that affect men and boys. United Nations does not recognize International Men’s Day. This global day is celebrated to honor the contribution and achievement of all men as sons, husbands, fathers, friends, and many more.
Theme – The theme of International Men’s Day is ‘’Better relations between men and women’’ which focuses to improve the relationship between men and women. The theme also tells to promote gender equality for men and women.
Significance – According to the World Health Organization data, suicide is the main cause of death under the age of 45 due to several reasons including unemployment, false allegations by women, break up, and many more problems. Unemployment is one of the main problems especially in male people all around the world. The parents must teach to their sons to respect female in public places, office, family, and many more that lower the cases of crime against women. There are several agencies to get justice for women but there is no agency to justice for men. If any women false allegations against men, then all the media, police, and government support ladies, and nobody support men. It is the main problem for men in the society all around the world.
Men play an important role as a son, brother, husband, and father in the relationship. Male people play a significant role as a brother to protect their sisters, as a son to care for parents, as a husband to protect and care for their wives, and as a father to care for their children. There are several men who gain popularity worldwide including Mahatma Gandhi Sachin Tendulkar, Abdul Kalam Azad, Sourav Ganguly, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and many more.
