World Science Day for Peace and Development 2021

Introduction – World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated every year on November 10 to spread awareness about the importance of science in maintaining the fabric of society intact and flourishing. The importance of science in daily life was rejuvenated during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The main purpose of this day is to ensure that people are kept informed about the developments in science and scientists play an important role in broadening the understanding of our planet is promoted it to make our societies more sustainable.

History – The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced that World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated on November 10 in the year 2001. Firstly, this global day is celebrated for the first time in the year 2002.

Theme – The theme of World Science Day for Peace and Development in the year 2021 is ‘’Building Climate – Ready Communities’’ that will concentrate on climate change worldwide.

Significance – As per United Nations, the main aim of World Science Day for Peace and Development are given below –

  • To encourage or promote national and global solidarity for sharing science between several countries all over the world.

  • To renew nationwide and worldwide commitment in the use of science for the benefit of societies.
