The main purpose of this global day is to draw the attention of people view worldwide annually for the development of problems and the requirement of strengthening global cooperation to resolve them.

History – World Development Information Day is celebrated every year on October 24 is to propagate information and mobilize people’s views to draw their attention and spread awareness to the problems to encourage efforts in the field of worldwide cooperation for the growth and development. Firstly, it is celebrated on October 24, 1973, all around the world. This international day aims to explain about the requirement to strengthen global cooperation among people and search for ways to resolve these problems.

Theme – World Development Information Day is observed on October 24 with a theme of ‘’Action for Sustainable Development Goal’’. In the previous year, the theme of this international day was ‘’Information and Communications Technologies- New Solutions to Development Challenges’’.

Significance – This international day concentrate on the significant role of the latest information technologies including the internet and mobile telephones that are free from the digital divide, which can be used to alert people and searching solutions for the problems related to trade and development.
