Introduction – World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27 every year all around the world that highlights and importance of tourism in the development of the country. The main purpose of this day is to give information about the importance in the travel sector and encouraging the culture all over the world. The tourism sector plays a significant role in the development of any country. Some of the countries are mainly dependent on the tourism sector.
In the tourism sector, millions of tourists come to our country that helps in the economic condition and creates thousands of jobs in our country. In this sector lakhs of hotels open in the tourist place especially in hilly and historical areas that create thousands of jobs in each sector. But due to the Covid Pandemic, millions of jobs are reduced and crores of economic loss in our country. During this pandemic, the loss in the tourism sector has also impacted the economic conditions of the entire world. Now we recover and again hotels open and gradually tourists come and improve the economic condition of employers globally.
History – United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was introduced in the year 1980 to spread awareness among people that how it affects political, social-cultural, and economic values all over the world. In the year 1970, the Statutes of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) were adopted, which are considered a landmark in the tourism sector globally on this day. Firstly, this day is celebrated as an international observance on September 27, 1980.
Theme – The theme of World Tourism Day in the year 2021 is ‘’Tourism for inclusive Growth’’. The main objective of this day is to help people who are associated with the tourism sector. The UNWTO also invites UN agencies, businesses tourists, member states, and non-members to observe the unique ability of tourism that no one is left behind due to the world begins to open up again after the pandemic and look for the future.
Significance – As we know tourism sector plays an important role in the economic development of any country. UNWTO urges people globally to highlight the ability of tourism as the entire world has started opening. The main objective of this day is to spread awareness about the importance of the tourism sector that affects the political, social, cultural, and economic values of the global community. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of young people are unemployed in the tourism sector that affects the economic condition of the whole world. The tourism sector was the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic all around the worldwide.
