It’s a very proud moment for our country that Praveen Kumar wins the silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He wins a silver medal in the men’s high jump T64 with an effort of 2.07m and gained a second position with a new Asian Record.

The best individual performance by Praveen Kumar with a first medal in the Paralympics games since 2019. Praveen is belonged from Noida and is now the youngest medal winner with an age of 18 years old for India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. T64 category is for those athletes who have leg length difference, leg deficiency, impaired passive range of movement in the legs, or impaired muscle power.

Earlier, Praveen won a silver medal at the Junior Para World Championships 2019 with his debut year. He has trained under a national coach Satyapal Singh during competing in the high jump for able-bodied athletes as a child.

Praveen Kumar is the second teenager player of India after Avani Lekhara who had won a gold medal at 19 years old in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He was also the fourth medalist of India who won a medal in the men’s high jump. Praveen is also the sixth silver medalist of India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
