It’s a very good news for our country that Avani Lekhara wins the first gold medal for India at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. She wins a gold medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event in the Paralympic games.

Avani Lekhara creates history and becomes the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Paralympic games. She finished with 249.9 points in the final and may equal the Paralympic World record. Previously, she qualified for the final with a point of 621.7 and gain 7th position in this event. Avni made good scores of 104.9, and 104.8 in the third or fourth attempt to be in the game in the women’s 10m Air Rifle event.


Avni is the fourth athlete of India that win a gold medal in the Paralympic games. In past, Javelin thrower, Devendra Jhajharia (2004 and 2016), Jumper Thangavelu Mariyappan (2016), and Swimmer Murlikant Petkar (1972) won a gold medal in the Paralympic games.
