Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated on July 26 every year in India with tributes to the heroes of the Kargil War in the year 1999. On this day, the Indian armed forces defeated the Pakistani army in Kargil in ‘Operation Vijay’. India is celebrating the 21 years of victory in the Kargil War today.

In past, the Kargil War was fought for more than 60 days that ended on July 26, 1999, when the Pakistani army took advantage of melting snow and try to capture high outposts of Kargil, in India. Thus, Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated on July 26 every year to honor the heroes of the Kargil War.

On this day, the Prime Minister of India pays tribute to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti every year at India Gate. There are several events are organized for commemorating the contributions of the armed forces in the Kargil War.
