Introduction – Global Wind Day is also known as World Wind Day is a worldwide event, which is held on June 15 all over the world. Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), and Wind Europe organized this event. It is a global event, which takes place every year on June 15. The purpose of this day to raise awareness about wind energy and its benefits or uses for common people all over the world.
World Wind Day is celebrated globally to inform about wind energy with its power and possibilities holds to change the world. On this day, we promote wind energy, which is one of the natural energies without any pollution and not harmful for common people.
History – World Wind Day is organized by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Wind Europe, and the national associations. This day was first inaugurated in the year 2007 as ‘’Wind Day’’ is celebrated in 18 countries in Europe with a participation of about 35,000 people.
It is believed that wind energy can probably change the entire world. The name of Global Wind Day was given after two years in the year 2009. There are several events were held in past years for making people all over the world aware of wind energy with benefits. The theme of Global Wind Day is not yet announced. Several events are organized in 30 countries in the year 2011. In the year 2012, there were 250 events all over the world.
Significance – Global Wind Day is observed for raising awareness about wind energy with no adverse effects on people. As per Wind Europe, now the onshore wind is one of the cheapest forms of energy, especially in Europe. Wind turbines can be used in generating electricity with the help of wind energy without any pollution. As per globalwindday.org, wind energy is presently a mainstream and mature technology and is also one of the fastest-growing industrial sectors all around the world with more than $100 billion invested in the year 2015.
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy such as wind turbines that can be used in producing electricity are available at a reasonable cost. It is an alternative form of energy without using any fossil fuels that cause pollution.
