What is the Fibonacci Sequence found widely in nature

Fibonacci sequence are a sequence discovered by Leonardo Bonacci of  Pisa, an Italian Mathematician. Leonardo Bonacci is one of the most popular or talented Italian mathematician of the Middle Ages from the Republic of Pisa, who introduced the fibonacci sequence or series. He was also known for popularize Indo Arabic numeral system in western countries mainly in Europe.

Fibonacci sequence is also called as Leonardo of Pisa with the original name being Leonardo Fibonacci. Leonardo Bonacci was an Italian Mathematician, who belongs to the Republic of Pisa, and is considered the most talented mathematician of the Middle Ages.

The Fibonacci sequence is the series of numbers as given below

0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13 21,34,55,89………

  • The 2 is found by adding the two numbers before it that is (1+1)
  • The 3 is found by adding the two numbers before it that is (2+1)
  • The 5 is found by adding the two numbers before it that (3+2)
  • The 8 is found by adding the two numbers before it that (5+3)
  • The 13 is found by adding the two numbers before it that is (8+5)

This type of sequence is one of the biggest accomplishments of Leonardo Bonacci is also known as Leonardo of Pisa or Leonardo Fibonacci. The Fibonacci sequence came from a puzzle about the rabbit population and this puzzle is stated in the book of Leonardo, which name is Libet Abaci.

The Fibonacci numbering system appear everywhere in nature. We can see it in the leaf arrangement in plants, scales of pineapples, florets of a flower, and many more. These numbers are applicable to the growth of everything that is in a grain of wheat, a hive of bees, and many more. Many plants show the fibonacci numbers in the arrangement of leaves around the stem. Pine cones and fiz cones also show the numbers. Sunflowers may contain the number 89 or even 144. Palm trees show the numbers in the rings on their trunk. It may be related to maximize the space for each leaf and average amount of light falling on each one.

Similar, in case of tapered pin cones, a double set of spirals is seen, one is giving in clockwise direction and the one in opposite direction. The two sets are in adjacent to Fibonacci numbers. Inside the fruits also Fibonacci series is found. The banana had 3 sections,and the apple had 5 sections. In flowers,petal arrangement is also found in Fibonacci order. For example

  2. 5 petals in wild rose
  3. 13 petals in cord marigold
  4. Brocoli spirals
  5. Aloe plant’s each set of leaves spiral outwards.
