Eid-e-Zehra 2026

Eid-e’Zehra also called as Eid-e’Shuja, which is celebrated mainly by Shia Muslims on the 9th of Rabi-al-Awwal as per the Islamic Calendar. This festival marks the end of the two month mourning period of Muharram and Safar and celebrates the Imamate of the 12th Imam, Imam al-Mahdi. It also honoring the historical event when Mukhtar al-Thaqafi revenge of Karbala by killing Ubaydallah ibn Ziyad, and many more who are responsible for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his family members and companions in Karbala, which makes the first smile to the face of Imam Zain-ul-Abideen, 4th Shia Imam.

This festival also marks a day of joy and relief for the family of Prophet Muhammad,and brings happiness to Fatima Zahra, daughter of Prophet Muhammad that’s why Shia Muslims celebrate 9 Rabi-al-Awwal as Eid-e-Zahra. It also symbolizes or mark the start of Imamate of Imam al-Mahdi, 12th  Shia Imam to celebrate this festival.

Eid-e-Zehra is also called as Farhat-e-Zahra, and Eid-e-Shuja, which will be celebrated on August 23 in the year 2026 by Shia Muslims across the world. As per Shia belief, Fatima Zahra, daughter of Prophet Muhammad felt calm, relief, and happy as justice was served that’s why 9 Rabi-al-Awwal is celebrated as Eid-e-Zahra.

Mostly Shia Muslims celebrate Eid-e-Zehra on the 9 Rabi-al-Awwal after the end of the mourning month of azadari and Muharram. After the mourning or month of Muharram, Shia Muslims celebrate Eid-e-Zehra by sharing special food and sweets with their family members and friends. They offer prayers (Namaz) and thanks God (Allah) to brings happiness, peace, and joy after Muharram, a mourning month. Eid-e-Zehra is also the celebration of the first day of Imamate of Imam al-Mahdi for Shia Muslims.

Eid-e-Zehra is considered the main celebration of Eid, mainly celebrated by Shia Community across the world. Shia Muslims wear new clothes mainly red clothes, share special food and sweets, and spend a special time with their family members and friends to celebrate Eid-e-Zehra.
