The seam and swing bowling in cricket is very important tools for fast and medium fast bowlers. Both these techniques cause ball deviation from the straight line. These are two important techniques of fast bowler to take quick wickets and win the match. The movement of the ball in air is called swing bowling, which depends upon different weather conditions. If it is cloudy or cold or wind is flowing perpendicular to pitch then ball will move either direction of the pitch, which confuses the batter and becomes very dangerous for batter.

The seam bowling is the movement of the ball after pitching on the ground. The cricket ball is not perfect sphere. Two halves of the ball are stitched, the stitching portion of the ball is called seam. During bowling, if the ball hits the ground on seam, it may deviate either side of the pitch, which also confuses the batter. To achieve seam movement, the fast bowler delivers the ball with seam held upright. When the seam of the ball is held by the bowler at an angle with rolling the fingers over the surface of the ball, it may produce off-cutter or leg-cutter after bouncing on the pitch.

Recently, most of the fast bowlers use these techniques in the important marches of the big tournament. When the fast bowler does not use these techniques, they do not take wickets and not become a great fast bowler.
