Several Significant Activities in Ramazan

Introduction – Ramazan is celebrated as a month of fasting by Muslims worldwide, including in India. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is also called as Ramazan. As per Islamic belief, Ramazan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is an Arabic word that means dryness or scorching heat. Ramadan is celebrated as the month of fasting, praying, and doing good things for 29 or 30 days. It is a significant month for Muslims due to Quaran’s first revelation to Mohammad (A.S), the prophet. Ramadan is a month of spiritual reflection, worship, blessings, and increased devotion.  The Holy Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan, which is a source of true guidance for all mankind.

Important activities in Ramadan – I am excitedly waiting for Ramadan and happy to observe the fast (roza) in the holy month of Ramadan. First of all, I took Sehri before sunrise with light food including milk, fruits, tea, butter, and bread. During the fasting (Roza)from sunrise to sunset, Muslim individuals are instructed to avoid drinking liquids. including water, consuming food, sexual activities, and smoking.  They are also instructed to avoid bad behavior with others, fighting, and false speech (cursing, lying, insulting, and backbiting during fasting (Roza). Thus, fasting teaches practicing self-discipline and controlling overeating, drinking, and bad behavior with others. Thus, I also avoid and do not drink, including water, and consume food during the fast. During fasting (Roza), I also avoid bad behavior and fighting with other individuals, backbiting, insulting, lying, smoking, and many other things. I also try to recite the whole Quran in the holy month of Ramadan. I also observe Shab-e-Qadr and offer special prayer (namaz) in the Alvida Jumma in the last 10 days of Ramadan. During the last days of Ramzan, I purchased new clothes for the Eid celebration. I try to recite the whole Quran during the holy month of Ramazan. I also offer special Jumma prayer (namaz) and Alvida Jumma during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Zakat (Charity) is also given to poor people in Ramadan who are not able to buy new clothes for the Eid celebration. After sunset, I took Iftaar with various delicious foods, including several sweets, sharbat, fruits, several types of pakoras, and many more items. During the month of Ramadan, we organize an Iftaar party for relatives and invite non-Muslim friends to give a message for unity and make strong bonds between different religions in our country. I also offered special prayers (Namaz) in Shab-e-Qadr to seek forgiveness, blessings, and rewards from God (Allah).
