A Christmas tree is an evergreen tree that contains pine, fir, or spruce and is decorated with ornaments and lights, which are associated with the celebration of Christmas. It is also an artificial tree that is used as both indoor and outdoor decoration for the celebration of Christmas Day. The tradition or custom was developed in Central Europe and the Baltic states mainly Livonia (now Latvia), Estonia, and Germany where people purchased trees for their homes.

The Christmas tree was traditionally adorned with apples, tinsel, stars, glass balls, roses made of colored paper, and many more and illuminated with candles that were replaced by colorful lights. Presently, there is a wide variety of traditional and latest decorations or ornaments including candy canes, tinsel, garlands, and baubles. A star or angel may be placed at the top position of the Christmas tree to represent the Star of Bethlehem, or Angel Gabriel respectively from the Nativity.

There are edible items including chocolate, gingerbread, and several other sweets are also hung or tied from the branches of the Christmas tree with ribbons. The Christmas tree was decorated with white candy canes, flowers, apples, and many more. Different types of garlands or ribbons and Tinsel are commonly used in the decoration of Christmas trees. Baubles contain a small hollow glass that is coated with a thin metallic layer and is also used as decoration to provide coloration.

Most people decorate their Christmas tree with twinkling or colorful lights, apples, stars, glass balls, and many more to celebrate Christmas Day.
