Introduction – International Chocolate Day is celebrated every year on September 13 and World Chocolate Day is celebrated every year on July 7 globally. These two international pleasant or delightful events which celebrate the worldwide love for chocolate among common people especially children across the world.

International Chocolate Day is celebrated every year on September 13 across the world to honor the birthday anniversary of Milton S. Hershey who was the founder or creator of The Hershey Chocolate Company. The main aim of this International Day is to honor the massive contributions of Milton Hershey for the popularization and bumper production of chocolate worldwide especially in the United States. Milton Hershey was the creator or founder of The Hershey Chocolate Company in the year 1894. At that time, he revolutionized chocolate by making it easily available and affordable for common people.
Most people especially children like chocolate as a celebration on any occasion. Several individuals use chocolate as sweets in religious gatherings. Chocolate is also used as sweets in birthday parties, new year parties, and many more celebrations. Chocolate is available in several varieties of sweets including chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate pastry, and many more.
Types of chocolate – Chocolates are available in several types which are as given below –
- White Chocolate – This type of chocolate contains milk, sugar, and cocoa without cocoa solid which imparts a dark color. It is made up of milk and cocoa fat with nutritive carbohydrates sweeteners.
- Dark Chocolate – This type of chocolate is produced by adding sugar and fat with a mixture of cocoa. Due to the great amounts of cocoa solids that indicates more bitterness. Dark chocolate is semisweet due to its low sugar content.
- Milk Chocolate– It is one of the sweet chocolates, which contains condensed milk and milk powder. Milk chocolate is available in white color that is very sweet and delicious.
- Unsweetened – It is pure chocolate liquor and is also called as baking or bitter chocolate. This type of chocolate is used in baking or several other products by adding sugar and other ingredients. It is important to note that raw chocolate may be referred to as raw cacao which is always dark and contains 75 percent cocoa.
Benefits of chocolates – There are several benefits of chocolates are as given below –
- Chocolate helps in regulating the feel-good hormones dopamine and serotonin that promote good or boost mood.
- Chocolates also help in lowering stress or depression and feels good mood.
- Cocoa is present in dark chocolate that may increase blood flow and lower blood pressure which is also good for the heart.
- Dark chocolate may improve brain function as it increases the blood flow as per the study.
- Due to the anti-inflammatory effect in chocolates, it helps in preventing inflammation that is responsible for several health issues as per the study.
- Due to large amounts of flavonoids in chocolate, it is beneficial for heart health.
