World Laughter Day 2025

Introduction – World Laughter Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of May that is May 4 in the year 2025 to raise awareness about the health benefits of laughter among people across the world. The main purpose of this International Day is to highlight the power of laughter to improve mood, lower stress or depression, and encourage a sense of connection and community. It also highlights the idea that laughter can contribute to breaking down barriers for a more harmonious and peaceful world. This international day encourages individuals across the world to come together, spread positivity, share laughter, and contribute to a healthier and happier world.

History – Dr. Madan Kataria was the founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement and created World Laughter Day in the year 1998, and the first celebration occurred on May 10, 1998, in Mumbai, India. Dr. Kataria was a physician In India who was inspired by the facial feedback hypothesis and advocated that facial expressions may influence emotions to initiate or introduce the Laughter Yoga Movement. The celebration of this global day is a positive manifestation of peace across the world to make up a worldwide consciousness of friendship and brotherhood via laughter.

Significance – Laughter may be beneficial for your health by lowering stress and tension making you happy and preventing severe diseases including depression, heart problems, and many more. It also improves efficiency by promoting a feeling of happiness and creating a good work environment. Laughter also improves the immune system and protects against several infectious diseases that are beneficial for your health. It is also good for heart health by lowering stress, reducing blood pressure, and making happier. Laughter may help in lowering depression, stress, and anxiety which is also good for mental health.
