Introduction – World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 to spread awareness about the importance of a green nature or environment on our planet It also concentrates on preventing several environmental issues such as rapid climate change, increased pollution, deforestation, and many more to main green environment and lower the risk of several diseases that are caused by pollution worldwide. The main aim of this international day is to spread awareness about several environmental issues and encourage individuals and governments to take action to protect and maintain the green nature or environment of our planet.

The healthy environment or green nature is very important for our life that provides fruits, clean water, pure air, food, and many more that fulfills the requirements of all human beings across the world. This International Day provides an opportunity to increase or protect or lower the cutting of trees that helps in maintaining forests and green nature or good environment of our planet.

History – The United Nations General Assembly introduced World Environment Day in the year 1972 which provides an opportunity to spread awareness to maintain a green environment by planting large numbers of trees, lowering cutting trees, reducing pollution, preventing killing animals, and many more. This global day encourages individuals and governments worldwide to take action for protecting, and maintaining the green nature or environment of our planet.

Theme – The theme of World Environment Day in the year 2024 is ‘’Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience’’ which talks about the rapid cutting of trees that makes deserts and increase the risk of drought worldwide. It can be prevented by planting a large number of trees that increase forests and is beneficial in reducing the risk of water shortages, enhancing rainfall, and preventing deserts, providing clean water, and many more.

Significance – The environment or green nature is very important for our planet by providing food, fruits, clean water, pure air, and many more which are essential for life. This International Day encourages individuals to conserve forests, not kill innocent animals and plant huge numbers of trees which are beneficial for the environment of our planet. It also provides an opportunity to save water by preventing waste of water. You should use bicycle as a transport to save petrol and lower pollution that is beneficial to maintain the green nature or environment of our planet.
