Introduction – National Dengue Day is celebrated every year on May 16 across India to spread awareness about dengue which is a mosquito-borne viral infection among common people in our country. The main aim of this day is to spread awareness about dengue thus individuals take precautions to prevent the spread of dengue in society.

Dengue: is a mosquito-borne viral infection which spreads to people by biting infected mosquitoes. Female mosquito Aedes was responsible for spreading dengue with symptoms of headache, mild fever, joint or muscle pain, and many more. As per the World Health Organization, there is about half of the population worldwide has a risk of dengue and around 100 -400 million infections occur per year. But when the condition of dengue may become severe then it may cause dengue shock syndrome and hemorrhagic fever
History – The Indian Government declared that National Dengue Day is celebrated every year on May 16 in the year 2016 because of the rapid increase in the cases of dengue across India when the breeding of mosquitoes in large numbers especially in the monsoon season, thus National Dengue Day was first observed on May 16, 2016, in our country.
Theme – The theme for National Dengue Day in the year 2024 is ‘’Dengue Prevention.: Our Responsibility for a Safe Tomorrow’’ which talks about spreading awareness about dengue and how to prevent the spread of dengue for the future life in our country.
Significance – Dengue fever is a viral infection, which is caused by infected mosquitoes that occur in tropical and subtropics areas across the world. Most individuals recover from dengue in the week but in many cases, symptoms may worsen which may be life-threatening and is called as dengue shock syndrome and hemorrhagic fever. Headache, muscle or joint pain, high fever, rash, and body aches are common symptoms of dengue. The main purpose of this day is to raise awareness about dengue and how to prevent the spread of dengue all over the world.
