Ramadan – It is also called as Ramzan and is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar which is celebrated by Muslims across the world. It is also considered as one of the five pillars of Islam that is mainly based on fasting, and prayer. Ramzan starts and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon due to the Islamic Calendar is shorter than the Georgian Calendar. Muslims are compulsory to fast and give charity to poor people which shows patience and kindness to strengthen their relationship with God during the holy month of Ramadan.

Iftar – It is also called futoor (an Arabic term for breakfast) and is a meal that is held daily at sunset after fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. Iftar is also done by a gathering of Muslims to break their fast together with their families. It is also the fast-breaking evening food of Muslims at the time of adhan of the Maghrib prayer during the holy month of Ramadan. Iftar is like a dinner with a spiritual experience in the holy month of Ramzan. People experience hunger and thirst and discover the importance of water and food for life during fasting which shows the importance of iftar in the holy month of Ramadan.
Fasting is an important pillar of Ramadan and starts in the early morning after Sehri or the prayer of Fajr and ends at sunset in Iftar. Individuals do not eat or consume any type of food or drink from sunrise to sunset throughout the fasting. Muslims break their fast with iftar after evening prayer at sunset. People must avoid illegal activities like abusive words, and anger, and also avoid sexual relationships with their partners during fasting.
During iftar, the fast is commonly broken with dates, fruits, water, juice, and many more. There are several dishes available in Iftar including pakora, juice, dates, chola, fruits, sweets, and many more. Fasting is commonly observed from sunrise to sunset but Muslims, who are living in the polar region, observe, obey, or follow the timings of Mecca. It is important to note that fasting is not compulsory for old people or patients with several serious medical issues or problems.
