Wi-Fi

It is a wireless networking technology that is based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards that are generally used for local area networking of Internet access and devices. This technology several devices such as smartphones, computers, laptops, printers, and many more devices to interface with the Internet for exchanging information between individuals.

When you access Wi-Fi on your mobile device then you are connected to a wireless router which enables Wi-Fi devices for interfacing with the Internet. Wi-Fi is also a radio signal that is sent from a wireless router to a close device that helps in translating the signal into data. The mobile device transmits a radio signal return or back to the router that connects to the Internet through cable or wire.

It is an internet connection that may share with several devices in an office or home through a wireless router. The router is linked directly to the Internet modem that acts as a hub for broadcasting the Internet signal to all Wi-Fi-enabled devices that provides flexibility for staying connected to the Internet within the network coverage area.

How does Wi-Fi work

Wi-Fi uses radio waves for transmitting data from the wireless router to the Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as computers, laptops, TV, tablet, and smartphone as they communicated with each other over airwaves.  The wireless adapter of the device changes data into a radio signal and sends it by using an antenna. The router takes data from the Internet that changes into a radio signal and sends it return or back to the mobile or computer device to be decoded. This procedure allows web users for uploading and downloading data from the Internet even when submitting URLs through the browser which counts as two-way communication.
