Australia won the first test match by only 2 wickets with England

In the first Ashes test match, Australia won the very close test match by only 2 wickets with England due to good bowling and batting. After winning this first test match, Australia leads by (1-0) in the 5-test series matches against England.

Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first and made a good score of 393/8d in the first inning due to good batting by Joe Root 118* (152), Jonny Bairstow 78 (78), Zak Crawley 61 (73), Harry Brook 32 (37), and Ollie Pope 31 (44). Nathan Lyon 4/149 (29), Josh Hazlewood 2/61 (15), Scott Boland 1/86 (14), and Cameron Green 1/32 (6) were good bowling from the Australian side.

In the first inning, Australia was all out at 386 runs due to good batting by Usman Khawaja 141 (321), Alex Carey 66 (99), Travis Head 50 (63), Cameron Green 38 (68), and Pat Cummins 38 (62). Ollie Robinson 3/55 (22.1), Stuart Broad 3/68(23), Moeen Ali 2/147 (33), James Anderson 1/53 (21), and Ben Stokes 1/33 (7) were good bowling from the England side. After this inning, England leads by only 7 runs in the first inning.

England was all out at only 273 runs in the second inning due to good bowling by Pat Cummins 4/63 (18.2), Nathan Lyon 4/80 (24), Josh Hazlewood 1/48 (10), and Scott Boland 1/61 (12). Harry Brook 46 (52), Joe Root 46 (55), Ben Stokes 43 (66), and Ollie Robinson 27 (44) were good batting from the England side. After this inning, England set a target of 281 runs for Australia to win the first test of the Ashes series.

Australia loses 8 wickets and reached the target of 281 runs in the second inning and won the very close match by only 2 wickets with England due to good batting by Usman Khawaja 65 (197), Pat Cummins 44* (73), David Warner 36 (57), Cameron Green 28 (66), Scott Boland 20 (40), Alex Carey 20 (50), and Nathan Lyon 16* (28). Stuart Broad 3/64 (21), Ollie Robinson 2/43 (18.3), Ben Stokes 1/9 (7), Joe Root 1/43 (15), and Moeen Ali 1/57 (14) were good bowling from the England side.

Usman Khawaja (AUS) 141 & 65 was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting in both innings of this test match.
