Previously, Afghanistan won the first one-day match by 60 runs with Sri Lanka in this series.

Kasun Rajitha 3/60 (10), Wanindu Hasaranga 2/67 (10), Dhnanjaya de Silva 1/42 (8), and Asitha Fernando 1/64 (10) were good bowling from the Sri Lanka side. After this inning, Afghanistan set a huge target of 314 runs in 50 overs for Sri Lanka to win this match.

During chasing, Sri Lanka loses 6 wickets, reached the target of 314 runs in 49.4 overs, and won the match by 4 wickets with Afghanistan due to great batting by Charith Asalanka 83* (72), Kusal Mendis 67 (61), Dasun Shanaka 43 (44), Pathum Nissanka 35 (55), Dinesh Chandimal 33 (32), and Dunith Wellalage 31 (21). Both Rashid Khan 4/37 (10), and Mohammad Nabi 2/56 (10) were good bowling from the Afghanistan side.

Charith Asalanka (SL) 83* (72), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.

Ibrahim Zadran (AFG), was declared as the Player of the Series due to his great performance in the entire series.
