Introduction – International Men’s Day is celebrated every year on November 19 across the world to recognize the cultural, socioeconomic, and political achievements of men. The main aim of International Men’s Day is to honor the contributions and achievements of men.  This international day also honors the contributions of men to society, nation, community, childcare, family, and marriage.

History – Earlier, International men’s day was started by Thomas Oaster in February 1992. Later, Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a history lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, introduced International Men’s Day on November 19, 1999.  Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh selected November 19 to honor the birthday of his father and encourage people to use this day to convey issues or difficulties that affect men and boys. But United Nations does not recognize International Men’s Day. This international day is celebrated to honor the contribution and achievement of all men as sons, husbands, fathers, friends, and many more.

Theme – The theme of international men’s day in the year 2022 is ‘Helping Men and Boys’ which discusses about the difficulties or problems that are faced by male people by arranging several programs, debates, discussions, and series of conferences.

Significance – The main goal of International Men’s Day is to encourage male individuals to become excellent role models by recognizing the positive contributions of men to make their families, society, and their communities. There are several problems that are faced by male people such as unemployment, false allegations by women colleagues or partners, financial issues, and many more.

Presently, male individuals commit suicide due to financial crises, false allegation by female employers or partners, jobless, and many more. Now, there are many agencies to get justice for women but there is no agency to justice for male people. If any women have false allegations against men for money and promotion then all the media, police, and government support ladies, and nobody supports men. Now married women misuse female laws against their husbands for fake dowry allegations and many more which is also the main problem of men worldwide. Thus, the main purpose of this international day is to honor the contributions, responsibilities, and achievements of men for their families and societies across the world.

Men play an important role as a brothers, sons, husbands, and fathers in the relationship. Male individuals play a significant role as a brother to protect their sisters, as a son to care for their parents, as a husband to protect and care for their wives or female partners, and as a father to care for their children. There are many men who gain popularity worldwide including Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Abdul Kalam, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and many more.
