After winning this match, India was placed at the top position in Group 2 with a maximum of 6 points while Bangladesh was still in the third position with 4 points as per point tables of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first thus India first batted and made a huge score of 184/6 in 20 overs due to great batting by Virat Kohli 64* (44), K.L. Rahul 50 (32), and Suryakumar Yadav 30 (16). Both Hasan Mahmud 3/47 (4), and Shakib Al Hasan 2/33 (4) were good bowling from the Bangladesh side. After this inning, India set a huge target of 185 runs in 20 overs for Bangladesh to win this match. But due to rain, the target of 151 runs in 16 overs for Bangladesh to win this match as per the DLS method.

During chasing, Bangladesh scored 145/6 in 16 overs and lose this match by only 5 runs with India due to great bowling by Hardik Pandya 2/28 (3), Arshdeep Singh 2/38 (4), and Mohammad Shami 1/25 (3). Litton Das 60 (27), Nurul Hasan 25* (14), and Najmul Hossain Shanto 21 (25) were good batting from the Bangladesh side.

Virat Kohli (IND), 64* (44), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting.
