In the first match of the T 20 World Cup 2022, Namibia won the match by 55 runs with Sri Lanka due to great performance in batting, bowling, and fielding with a blasting start. After winning this match, Namibia placed at the top position in Group A in the T 20 World Cup 2022.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first thus Namibia first batted and made a good score of 163/7 in 20 overs due to great batting by Jan Frylinck 44 (28), JJ Smit 31* (16), and Stephan Baard 26 (24). Pramod Madushan 2/37 (4), Maheesh Theekshana 1/23 (4), Wanindu Hasaranga 1/27 (4), Dushmantha Chameera 1/39 (4), and Chamika Karunaratne 1/36 (4) were good bowling from the Sri Lankan side. After this inning, Namibia set a good target of 164 runs in 20 overs for Sri Lanka to win the first match of the T20 world cup 2022.

During chasing, Sri Lanka was all out at only 108/10 in 19 overs, and lose this match by 55 runs with Namibia due to great bowling by David Wiese 2/16 (4), Bernard Scholtz 2/18 (4), Ben Shikongo 2/22 (3), Jan Frylinck 2/26 (4), and JJ Smit 1/16 (3). Dasun Shanaka 29 (23), Bhanuka Rajapaksa 20 (21), and Dhananjaya de Silva 12 (11) were good batting from the Sri Lankan side.

Jan Trylinck (NAM), 2/26 (4) & 44 (28), was declared as the Player of the Match due to his great performance in batting and blowing.
