It’s a very proud moment for our country that Indian boxer, Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal in boxing at the commonwealth games 2022 in Birmingham. She won the gold medal in the women’s lightweight category at the ongoing commonwealth games 2022. It’s a third gold medal in boxing and is the overall 17th gold medal of India in the commonwealth games 2022.

Nikhat Zareen defeated Carly McNaul of Northern Ireland in the women’s lightweight by unanimous decision (5-0) in the final match and won the gold medal at the commonwealth games 2022. Earlier, Nikhat started campaign against Helena Ismael Bagao of Mozambique and won the match easily to reach quarter-final in the commonwealth games 2022. She defeated Helen Jones of Wales in the quarter-final match with a unanimous verdict of (5-0) to reach the semi- final in the commonwealth games 2022. Later, she won the semi-final match with Stubley Alfia Savannah of England by 5-0) to reach the final.
In past, Nikhat Zareen won the gold medal in the women’s flyweight at the World Championships 2022, Istanbul in Turkey. She also won the bronze medal in the women’s flyweight boxing at the Asian Championships 2019 Bangkok in Thailand.
