Introduction – World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated between August 1 and August 7 to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding in the health of mother and baby. Breast milk is one of the cleanest, safest, and most balanced food for kids that provides nutrition to impart immunity against several diseases.

Breastfeeding is very important for the development and growth of newborn babies. If any newborn baby is breastfed for six months, then the possibility of developing several infections diarrhea or respiratory conditions, or any infections are negligible. Breast milk also reduces the risk of developing allergies or asthma. The main purpose of World Breastfeeding Week is to raise awareness about the health benefits of breast milk for newborn babies.
History – Firstly World Breastfeeding Week are introduced in the year 1992 with annual themes including community work, education, healthcare systems, human rights, women and work, and many more. The main goal of World Breastfeeding Week is to enhance public support for breastfeeding and unite the breastfeeding community. World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is an international network of organizations and personalities that are dedicated to the promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding across the world.
Theme – The theme of the World Breastfeeding week 2022 is ‘’Step Up for Breastfeeding, Educate, and Support’’ to spread awareness about pleading with groups and governments worldwide to put protections in place for nursing.
Significance – The main aim of world breastfeeding week is to encourage breastfeeding and bring the breastfeeding community together. Mother’s milk is very important for about six months because breast milk contains antibodies that help in preventing several infections in newborn babies. Good nutrition is very important for a mother because it improves the quality of breast milk that help in getting the required nutrients to newborn babies.
