In the first test match, India won the first test match by 113 runs with South Africa due to great performance in batting and bowling.

Earlier India won the toss and chose to bat first and made a great score of 327/10 due to great batting by K.L. Rahul 123 (260), Mayank Agarwal 60 (123), Ajinkya Rahane 48 (102), and Virat Kohli 35 (94). Lungi Ngidi 6/71 (24), and Kagiso Rabada 3/72 (26) were good bowling from the South African side.

In the first inning, South Africa was all out at only 197 runs due to great bowled by Mohammad Shami 5/144 (16), Jaspirit Bumrah 2/16 (7.2), Shardul Thakur 2/51 (11), and Mohammad Siraj 45/1 (15.1). Temba Bavuma 52 (103), and Quinton de Kock 34 (63) were good batting from the South African side. India led by 130 runs against South Africa after the first inning.
The whole Indian team was all out at only 174/10 in the second inning due to great bowled by Kagiso Rabada 4/42 (17), and Marco Jansen 4/55 (13.3). Rishabh Pant 34 (34), and K.L. Rahul 23 (74) were good batting from the Indian side. India set a target of 305 runs for South Africa to win the first test match.

In the second inning, South Africa was all out at 191 runs and lose the first test match by 113 runs with India due to great bowled by Jasprit Bumrah 3/50 (19), Mohammed Shami 3/63 (17), Mohammad Siraj 2/47, and Ravindra Ashwin 2/18 (9). Dean Elgar 77 (156), and Temba Bavuma 35* (80) were good batting from the South African side.

Due to his great performance in batting, K.L. Rahul 123 (260) was declared as the Player of the Match in the first test match.
