Earlier Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bowl first thus India first batted and made a huge score of 210/2 (20) due to great batted by Rohit Sharma 74 (47), K.L. Rahul 69 (48), and Hardik Pandya 35* (13). Karim Jannat 1/7 (1), and Gulbadin Naib 1/39 (4) were good bowled from the Afghanistan side.

During chasing, Afghanistan scored 144/7 (20) and lost this match by 66 runs with Afghanistan due to great bowled by Mohammad Shami 3/32 (4), Ravichandran Ashwin 2/14 (4), and Ravindra Jadeja 1/19 (3). Karim Jannat 42* (22), and Mohammad Nabi 35 (32) were good batted from the Afghanistan side. After winning this match, India was placed at the fourth position in the group 2 with 2 points.

Due to his great performance in batting, Rohit Sharma (IND) 74 (47), was declared as the Player of the Match.
