World Post Day 2021

Introduction – World Post Day is observed on October 9 annually to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) that was established in Switzerland in the year 1874. Several countries celebrate this day every year all around the world.

History – The Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress was held in Tokyo, Japan in the year 1969 and declared that World Post Day is celebrated on October 9 every year worldwide. India plays an important role in the inauguration of this international day. After the International Telecommunication Union, UPU is the second oldest international organization.

Theme – The theme of World Post Day in the year 2021 is ‘’Innovate to recover’’ to recognize the role of postal services that played an important role in connecting people during lockdown when the Covid-19 was spread at that time.
