It is one of the most important natural fibers and plays a vital role in the economy of several countries.

History – The opening of World Cotton Day was held in Geneva in the year 2019. The World Trade Organization (WTO) and International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) introduce this day worldwide. Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, and Benin made an official proposal to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for the establishment of World Cotton Day that highlights the importance of cotton as a global resource. The Bremen Cotton Exchange is one of the main cotton organizations all around the world that supported the idea to celebrate World Cotton Day as an global event.
