Earlier RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first thus, SRH first batted and made a low score of 141/7 (20) due to great bowled by Harshal Patel 3/33 (4), Dan Christian 2/14 (3), and Yuzvendra Chahal 1/27 (4). Jason Roy 44 (38), Kane Williamson 31 (29), and Jason Holder 16 (13) were good batted from the SRH side.
During chasing, RCB loses early wickets and lost this match by only 4 runs with SRH due to great bowled by Umran Malik 1/21 (4), Siddharth Kaul 1/24 (4), Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/25 (4), and Jason Holder 1/27 (4). When Maxwell was batting very well then it looked like RCB would win the match very easily. After Maxwell run out, the match turned out and RCB lost the match. Devdutt Padikkal 41 (52), Glenn Maxwell 40 (25), and AB de Villiers 19* (13) were good batted from the RCB side. After losing this match, RCB maintained the 3rd position in the IPL 2021 points table with 16 points.
Due to good performance in batting, Kane Williamson (SRH), 31 (29), was declared as the Player of the Match.
